SELECT RIGHT GYM FOR YOUR FITNESS JOURNEY

Selecting the right gym to start your fitness journey is a confusing process.  We wander around with different thoughts and suggestions to pick the right gym.

“Gym is a place where everyone goes to improve themselves and where you grow mentally, spiritually, and emotionally.”

Here are some key factors to consider while selecting a gym.

Find a gym close your home/office

If you’re considering fitness as your long term goal then opt for a gym that is close to your home/office as it reduces your travel time and efforts. Also, it should be in a walk able distance of 10-15 minutes so that the walk to up the gym is your warm-up.

It is time-consuming and tiring to travel to a gym which is far from your home/office also eventually you will lose your motivation and drop your thought of fitness.

Equipment’s

Take a walk around and ensure that the gym consists of these basic types of equipment like- free squats rack, barbell, heavy dumbbells, pull up bar and flat bench. Ideally, these basic types of equipment are must for any gym and your 70-80 percent workouts will revolve around these basic types of equipment which will help in increasing your strength and size.

You don’t need any fancy equipment to achieve your fitness goals, just basic types of equipment and demonstrating mechanism with proper form while working out is more than enough to achieve your fitness goals.

Gym Size

Physical activity needs space, I have seen many gyms which are not spacious enough and people workout in a stuffed space or wait for their turn to occupy which is quite uncomfortable and irritating.

Therefore I suggest you look for a gym which is spacious and properly managed.

Trainer/Coach

Having a fitness coach will guide you through the process of transformation, therefore, look for a professional certified fitness coach who possesses the knowledge and can help you with workouts, diet plans, nutrition, and keeps you motivated throughout the process.

Fitness coach plays an important role in your goals, therefore, ask for trainer experience, testimonial of other clients worked with; also trainer should be able to share a personal, yet professional relationship.

Basic Amenities

In today’s growing fitness industry, we see some advance level amenities which we may not utilize at the fitness center but we pay for those and fall into the trap of marketing gimmick to attract the client. So if you planning to join a fitness center or want to shift then look for these basic amenities.

  1. Well maintained cardio and strength equipment’s
  2. Sound system
  3. Clean shower and grooming area
  4. Locker rooms
  5. Personal trainers

These basic amenities are more than enough to meet your fitness goals and needs.

Cleanliness and maintenance

Each and everything in the gym must be kept clean and well maintained as clients use equipment; bathroom, lock rooms. All these things carry germs, dirt, trash, or waste and there may be high chances of contagious infections. Also, many people after using equipment do not place it back to its original position so it’s the management’s as well as clients responsibility to follow rules and regulations to ensure that things are well maintained and kept clean or else the fitness center will turn into a sickness center.

Cost/Price

Cost is one of the obvious factors which most of the clients consider as the top priority. As I have mentioned earlier fitness industry is on rapid growth and turning out to be more of marketing gimmick to attract clients to earn profits due to which clients are paying for things which they don’t even utilize. It is a wastage of your money if you’re paying for the facilities which you are not going to utilize. Therefore it’s client responsibility pay as per needs and utilization.

Operation Hours

Like any other business, some gyms are 24/7 open and some are closed on weekends. Checking for the operational hours will help you in scheduling your training session completely dedicated to your fitness.

Gyms offering 24/7 operational hours have more flexibility in terms of scheduling your training session as per your timings. Therefore before selecting a gym, plan your timings at which you can schedule a training session and select a gym accordingly. There is no use in joining a gym if it’s not flexible enough as per your schedule.

Peak hours are also one of the reasons which most of the clients tend to avoid. As at this time, most of the equipment is occupied and the gym looks crowd with less space to workout. To avoid this, you can plan your schedule in non-peak hours.
